It's Mamod Jim

It's a Mamod but not as you'd recognise it.  

A recent 2nd-hand acquisition is this simple & basic battery loco which will serve the role of having something to grab and run round the FWR at zero notice.  

It is indeed exceptionally basic and I'm glad I paid nowhere near full price for it.  I should resist doing anything to it as it's supposed to be a 'don't care' loco, but a few improvements are needed - first off is not having the batteries visible through the front grille.

Spent a while doing more ballasting today, having discovered that yesterday's ballast hadn't held.  Went and got some fresh waterproof PVA (the old pot being several years old and clearly defunct).
