Birmingham University
Day 1 of the RSE conference (research software engineering). The conference started off with a very impressive keynote on research software in humanities, more specifically cuneiform writing, ancient history of the Middle East, current political chaos and cultural vandalism and how software can ease access to history. It is amazing how much effort parts of humanity spend on destroying knowledge when we could cooperate and build on each other's efforts. It was a good day. I managed to catch up with someone from my distant undergrad days and talked lots to interesting people with interesting projects. As always the things to look into multiplied.
