What a Blue-Sky Day!
After a sharp frost (-4.7C on the garden thermometer) the sun rose and stayed with us all day.
I got a hatful of decent blips during the day though this one's the winner. I'm not a religious person though I like church architecture and some hymns (even though the devil might have the best tunes).
This is St John the Baptist, an 11th century church fifteen minutes walk from my Northampton home. It's built on a little hill so that it is visible from almost any viewpoint within the region of Kingsthorpe, an ancient village now part of the large town of Northampton while retaining a wonderful ancient feel with lots of stone-built cottages.
I chose this image for the way the bright winter sunlight turned the stone golden and for the beautiful lines and proportions of the building - and for the trees that grace the hill. Also just visible are gravestones at various angles alongside the path running up to the church entrance.
