Melted Frost

After breakfast we went for a bike ride. The weather was pretty good, nice and bright and sunny and the air was clear with no mist or fog. It was a bit cold going down some of the hills in the shade but overall a pretty good ride. As with last weekend lots of bikers about - which is good.

When we got back I had a quick look round the garden to see what I could find to blip - the light was still good. I settled on this little bit of grass sneaking through the weed suppressing membrane and flints where the front lawn once was. I like the frost that has melted in to dew on it, the warm colour of the flints and the nice blue sky behind it.

Sometime this winter we will lift the flints and the membrane and lay windflower turf where the lawn once was. The commercial producer in the village supplied the Olympic park in London and legacy developer with his flower turf. He doesn't normally sell to private individuals for small lawns but for locals willing to collect their own he will sell the stuff.

After the bike ride we went to friend to collect some rotted horse manure for the community orchard next Saturday. The stuff was well rotted and not particularly smelly at all, but it's still wet and sticky so it makes a mess all over the place.

I'd like to say it's now time to crash out in front of the TV watching some Sci-Fi DVD thing but I've still got a mountain of ironing to do...!
