Back home
Before I fetched Luke from hospital this morning I had a productive morning. I managed to tackle the pile of ironing and make many phone calls to organise things - Luke's physio bookings, the post-operation checkup with the surgeon, the boiler service, a cracked window replacement...I was feeling very organised and on top of things!
Luke was feeling fine this morning - albeit a little tired as he had his blood pressure checks taken throughout the night so he was woken up. He had a session with the hospital physio this morning, and she made him walk and go up and down the stairs. He is on crutches until he feels stable enough to go without them, and he has to wear an articulated brace for about 12 weeks - it has been fitted and set so that his knee cannot bend more than ninety degrees. He also has to wear anti-DVT stockings for the next 2 weeks - see the extra image, he looks quite a sight! He is amazed at how good he is feeling compared to the last time he had this surgery - he says he has no pain, which is due to his abnormally high threshold for pain as this is a painful procedure, so he is not even taking pain killers. He also feels more alert as last time he slept for about a week after the procedure.
I went out to stock up on ice, I have to buy some every day as he gets through about 5 bags a day in the ice-compression machine and I don't have much spare space in my freezer for all these bags of ice. It is a nuisance having to get ice every day but the ice maker in our fridge cannot keep up.
Jenni left to go home today, and Gavin is out at a function, so it is a quieter house tonight. May settle down and start watching Bake Off....
No time for photos today, these lilies came to the rescue.
