2018 Tuesday — Yard Construction

New pavers and artificial turf are being installed in our front yard. The workers started early yesterday morning and will be finished tomorrow late in the day. They are working very hard.

Then the fence builders will arrive to place a three foot high fence to create a courtyard just beyond the front porch. This will provide a place for our three pups to have a place to “go.” Then each side of the yard will have a tall fence to provide privacy to the back yard.

The back and the front yards were absolutely desolate when the renter moved out a year ago. The renter resided here for 15 years and did nothing to maintain or care for the yards. Even worse, the property manager did not require the renter to do anything and it was in the contract to maintain the yards. Oh well.

So back in mid-June the city cited our property; gave us till July 9 to fix the front yard or pay a fine. Good grief. There are eight other houses on our street and several more in the overall neighborhood that have nothing but dirt or dead lawn. So I wrote a letter of request for an extension of the due date till September and my request was granted.

When the severe drought hit southern California several years ago, people were going to be fined for watering their yards. So there seems to be no win with our city officials.

Anyway, we are hoping to get an “all clear” from the city and not have to pay the fine.

I will post the completed yard photos soon.
