Grey Heron over

It was a lovely sunny morning so I got out early to see if there was anything unusual about .....

Probably not unless I missed it of course.  The Grey Heron flew over,  The Swallows twittered and swooped about ,  2 Kestrels, a Buzzard and well yes a Peregrine Falcon.

On the walk home ,  Speckled Wood and Small Tortoiseshell butterflies,  many Goldfinches and a Spotted Flycatcher with a Robin and Meadow Pipits watching as if at a tutorial called "How to catch a fly"  - they were obviously interested but with a lot to learn.

After that ....  a Kingfisher in the local park ... not seen one for a long time.  I actually had an opportunity for a photo but waited watching too long and then it was gone - but at least I enjoyed the moment.

Mark the day:   Lancashire and Somerset finished a 4 Day County Cricket match in under 2 days - both sides bowled out twice and the total scores identical.  A TIE !   ( a rare event )   Spin bowlers enjoyed the pitch but obviously the batsmen didn't.
