Latest Toy in the Arsenal
I have blipped our weaponry, both ancient and modern, on a number of occasions. Amongst it were two air pistols that turned out to be collectables. There are two others that appear to fall into that category and I am saving them up for a rainy day – literally.
On the pistol front we wanted something with a magazine but not very powerful that we ping away with on a warm evening while sitting on the patio. (Pinging is shooting at odd targets like tin cans and fun targets like the one I blipped back in June).
A few weeks back we were sold a semi-automatic pistol that we were not pleased with – it could shoot eight shots in less than a second, but the problem was getting two shots within a foot or so of each other. Today the shop we bought it from gave us a good trade in for this little Beretta.
Now we are not into replicas, but nearly all of this range of pistols seem to be, including the one we traded in. This is a Umarex Beretta M 92 FS. I had quite a surprise when I Googled ‘M 92 FS’ and wound up on the Beretta website with our new pistol, except it was 9mm not 4.5mm (0.177). Our pistol is made under license in Germany by Umarex, and it would pass for the ‘real thing’ in bright daylight and a police firearms inspection – until they looked very close. I’m not sure if this is a good thing or not, but it’s every thing the first pistol wasn’t, and more.
Well we will be happy pinging for a few days now - until the newness has worn off that is.
