Nailed The Focus ....
.... on a 'nail'. Passion flowers are so called because the parts of the flower are thought to symbolise the passion of Christ. Five sepals and five sepals refer to the ten faithful apostles (excluding Judas and Peter). The three stigmata represent the three nails that held Christ to the cross while the five anthers represent Christ's sacred wounds. The tendrils are said to resemble the whips used in the flagellation while the filaments depict the crown of thorns.
