The South Downs
A former colleague of mine is visiting in a couple of weeks time and wants to go for a long walk on the South Downs so the spaniel and I set off from Wilmington just after nine this morning and tried out a new route on what was a glorious day. Seven hours walking and two half hour rests. In total about 17 miles, that should be long enough for my visitor. This is the panorama looking west with the English Channel on the left, the village of Alfriston in the centre and Firle Beacon the prominent hill on the escarpment slope to the right.
