Inadvertently the question of faith and religion kept reoccurring this weekend, from Derren Brown's TV special exploring rational explanations for religious experiences, to the watered-down (to the point of homeopathic levels) Christianity of Christmas shopping in Birmingham to 'The Master', an intriguing yet somewhat aimless film about an Elron Hubbard style cult leader.
We have a number of small figurines on our fire place that have undeniable religious undertones, although today was the first time I realised this. I guess that when religious imagery surrounds you in an often non-religious context (e.g. most of christmas) the spiritual connotations unravel and these images just become part of your culture. Anyway, made a nice blip.
