Canal Basin

Sharp frost this morning, went to the yard with Mrs A S, she schooled Miller while mucked out. Home for a lazy lunch, just befor dusk we took the dogs for a run out along the canal.
The canal, finished in 1818 and part of the national net work, it like so many others fell into disuse with the comming of the railway.
Today the "Pocklington Canal Amenity Society", formed in 1969 to protect and restore the canal, with some 300 members has with British Waterways kept half the canal navigable and a towpath intact for its full lenght. To see and read more click here!
