The Yellow Boat
Usually the fog lifts when we're on our walk, but today it went backwards. Less than five minutes after I took this picture, the boat was invisible. I can't imagine what those fishermen could see in that quick fog, but they must have some way of staying safe. The birds were in an uproar; if you look closely on the horizon at the right, there is an explosion of gulls and cormorants way in the distance. Mr S thinks there may be an anchovy glut that's driving them all into a frenzy. I thought it might have been the fog, as the noise died down when the visibility thickened. Our walks are endlessly entertaining.
Back in the kitchen: we canned about 20 pounds of our tomatoes (which comes out to seven quarts), and set another five pounds up in the dehydrator. That thing will hum overnight, and then we can dry some more!
