Thanks to noise-cancelling headphones and all the Guardian Long Read podcasts, I slept.

Then there was breakfast, papers, breakfast wine (which I can now blame on Giles Coren rather than my friend Jac), lamb extravaganza barbecue, and a cab to the airport.

A late night beckons....
