Basil

Not a single member of my family has green thumbs. If anything, we possess 'black' thumbs', in that any plant unfortunate enough to end up at our house invariably dies. It's not for lack of trying on our part - honest! - but flora just don't seem to like us very much.

And yet, the curse may be fading. My mother planted basil in the kitchen a little while ago and lo - it's bloomed!
