Show me the Honey

This year we have not brought back olive oil from our Mediterranean holiday, but instead these two jars of honey.

They are a kind and generous gift from someone in Sardinia who believes passionately in the countryside and the produce they get from it.

This passion is widely seen in Sardinian families and neighbours who pool their energy and labour to produce honey, cheese (usually Pecorino), fruit, vegetables, etc.

The paler honey on the left is less mature spring honey.
The bees forage on Asphodelus and Carduus (thistle) flowers in this area. The latter resulting in a darker honey.

To transport this precious golden liquid, I used my tried and tested method shown elsewhere in these pages.

One is allowed to bring back honey under EU regulations; who knows post Brexit?
