Red Black-Eyed Susan (Thunbergia Alata)
Legend says that 'Susan' loved 'Sweet William' and the poet John Gay 1685-1732 wrote a poem about them....' All in the downs the fleet was moored, Banners waving in the wind, When Black-Eyed Susan came aboard, And eyed the burly men. "Tell me ye sailors, tell me true, Does my Sweet William sail with you ? " William replied, "Let not my pretty Susan mourn, though cannons roar, yet safe from harm, William shall to his dear return, Lest precious tears drop from Susan's eye " This red one is just flowering, later than the yellow flower I posted some time ago.
