Belgrave Flyover

This lovely monolith to motoring is a concrete arch of fine proportions. Reaching from the city centre to the area of Belgrave it spans a large roundabout. A fine conduit for those on bike bus or car.. A skyway with beguiling views of the modernist future up front looking towards the complexity (from this angle) of the Leicester City Centre skyline. But on foot its a left-right maze of pedestrian crossings and disparate footpaths which snake below the concrete arch.

In a few years it might all be gone if redevelopers get their way. I personally hope it will be preserved as a high line, rather like a micro Manhattan version, the views certainly merit one. Time will tell... For now it's another fine monolith of, and a legacy from, the motoring age; it's future meaning yet to be discovered.
