Vulcan.....

...a magnolia which makes a statement and it's my first magnolia to flower this spring.

Starting from wine red buds the flowers open, petals heavily textured, red in most lights and cerise/red when sunlit, there are subtle notes of a fruity like fragrance, I love it! Most of the flowers are up high so not sure if I'll be able to photograph the centre, time will tell.

We woke to another grey cloudy morning but unlike other days the sun was out in full force by morning tea, 15C felt good!
