Morning sprite

Here's some emerald color on a dark day from a juvenile male hummingbird. Thankfully, my two and hopefully three are still here and not migrating into the face of Hurricane Florence when she makes landfall tomorrow and Friday to the south of us. It sounds like a staggeringly horrific hurricane, may all in the storms path be safe.

Two very close friends are evacuating today from The Wilmington North Carolina area. S was my roommate from my first teaching job  in Van Buren, Maine 47 years ago. P, now her husband, was a fellow new teacher from those days. We were a close gang of seven newly minted teachers/social workers from out of state, far from home. S & P's meeting resulted in a 45th Wedding Anniversary this past August. Yesterday, they planned to stay in Leland, N.C. and ride out the hurricane, but thankfully they have decided to evacuate this morning. I'm very worried about them and the readiness of FEMA to handle this potentially catastrophic hurricane after Harvey and Maria last year. Who can trust the response after what happened last season?

For the Record,
This day came in dark with rain, rain that we need for the trees we had transplanted last year. I plan to spend the rest of the day reading Fear, by Bob Woodward.

All hands worried about the hurricane speeding towards the U.S. Shore
