Happy Birthday George

It's Wednesday so I went walking with over 20 of the Haltwhistle Walkers. George was our leader and this was his birthday walk.

He's a good leader who checks the routes before we go. This time he was caught out by the Knarsdale Estate who in the last two weeks have started to fell trees in the lovely wood on Tow Bank. It was steep and tricky to negotiate our way. I hope they reinstate the public right of way.

George brought a bottle of Madeira so we could all have a tiny glass (medication size) with our lunch. There was very little left, but he kindly posed for my photograph.

Back at the Wallace Arms he stood us a round.

It was a great way to celebrate a big birthday (shh - he's 70 today).
