Today is the 5th day of rain. While it started out just dark and dreary, the skies opened up several hours ago and it has been pouring ever since. We have several rivers running through the backyard. This has nothing to do with Hurricane Florence which fortunately for us has taken a left turn and isn't expected to come our way. Our area would have been at high risk for some serious flooding and lots of downed trees. Nevertheless, I feel very concerned for folks in the Carolinas. This storm is expected to be of historic proportions and it is supposed to linger and drop record amounts of rain along with high winds for 24 hours or more.
All the hurricane coverage has pushed politics off the news even though it isn't expected to hit for another 24 to 36 hours, That’s been a nice break. I was amused to hear, however, that Rush Limbaugh, ultra-conservative radio host and conspiracy theorist believes that weather forecaster’s predictions that Hurricane Florence could have a devastating and potentially life-threatening effect when it batters the East coast have been exaggerated in order to “politicize” climate change. What’s really sad is that there are people who will foolishly believe him and may not evacuate, putting themselves and their families at risk.
As a result of the weather, I have chosen to blip some flowers I had the sense to pick up at the grocery store yesterday.
