Bright end to a tedious day

I've had this inkpot for ages. I've used it as a pencil holder, never noticing the signature on the metal: Brossy. Out of boredom at the end of a tedious day I've just Googled the name: an artist from the 1900s whose pewter and bronze works are held in some esteem. Minor stuff but nice! How can I clean it up to show off its intricate detail, now that my eyes are open?
