Mrs Tweedy would be so happy
At last it is taking shape. The chickens will be comfortable in their new (ish) home. After they stopped laying, the remaining chickens went to their retirement home at a local businessman’s house. Mrs SoL did not want me to eat them; something about being too attached to them. So, summer is coming to an end and the visiting Son-in-Law has the muscles and energy that I sometimes need. The area has seen a complete overhaul. Between us, we have concreted the inside of the coop (see extra pic) and laid a pad outside the coop where it tends to be muddiest. Vegetation has been cleared and a more secure fence erected. Jobs left are refurbishing the coop door and fitting it, then a new fence gate. Add in the roosting perches and access ladder to the nesting boxes and we will be ready for the next flock. Can’t wait for the lovely fresh eggs again, shop bought, even though good from our local butcher, just don’t cut it.
