A day in the life......
.....of a (very) local elementary school teacher, a Miss Elizabeth Hill from Cullercoats written on Monday 9th October 1939. Schools hadn't reopened for the autumn term following the declaration of war in September 1939 though 'peripatetic' teaching methods were soon in place.....local railway station waiting rooms and ladies lavatories on the prom (very probably these ones) played their part in the war effort! (see extra for the rest of Miss Hill's day where she and a friend fall foul of a local air raid warden) And yes, you've guessed it, I'm delving into a bit of local history again today.......
