Ground Zero

On our last day in New York, we were able to go to Ground Zero.

We visited the Twin Towers during our Silver Wedding Anniversary trip in 1995 and were there again shortly after 9/11. It is very different now. We were overawed by the magnificent and sensitive memorial which now occupies the footprint of the original buildings. Each day roses are placed on the names of those who would and should have been celebrating their birthdays. Harrowing, poignant and a tragically world-changing moment in history.
