Bus Challenge No 150!
Winsley, Wiltshire
A wet dismal morning put paid to my plan for a canal walk with my Bus Challenge friend, so on the spur of the moment we jumped on a bus in Bath and headed into Wiltshire and up to Winsley, on the southern edge of the Cotswolds.
We’ve passed through the village on the bus many times before but never stopped, so today we went exploring. Away from the main village road, we found lanes that took us here there and everywhere, out into the countryside and around the village. A wedding was being held in the church so we couldn’t get in, but we discovered some gorgeous 17th century cottages, three grand manor houses, and of course a 17th century pub which we popped into for lunch and a belated birthday drink! All in all we walked two miles. If you take the time to wander off the beaten track, it’s surprising what you can find...
Did you spot the robin?
