Fishing Heaven

As you can see it was a stunning morning this morning. Blipmate and I had gone to the marina to seek out a heron a friend had told us was nesting there. We couldn't spot it at all so moved on to the fishing wharf where we found a photographer friend with the same idea.

The tide had started to come in and so had shoals of fish that made the water boil. The area was full of shags, terns and seagulls diving and catching quite decent size fish. We snapped away happily but unfortunately, the birds were just too far away from us for decently sharp photos.  I have put one in the extras to show two different varieties of shag with the fish in their beak. Multiply this by many shags, terns and gulls and you will have an idea of the amount of fish being caught. No bird would go hungry this morning.

We also watched a white faced heron bringing sticks for its nest under the jetty - same problem of not close enough to get a sharp shot. It is extra number 2.

Just as well I had also taken a photo of this little yacht as it sailed past or there would have been no blip.. It was a beautiful day to be out on the water.
