Saxon sundial

Otherwise known as a tide dial, scratch or mass dial. Unlike later dials which mark the hours of the day, Saxon tide dials marked the canonical hours (Terces, Sext, Nones etc.). Now on the side of St Michael's Church, Winchester, a little remnant of our Saxon history.
