Drilling wheat...

After yesterday today has been quiet, I spent a bit of time out on the farms this morning... The farmers are very busy, taking advantage of the fine weather to get things done.

I was lucky enough to get a ride in this monster, it's amazing to see how technology has taken control on the big farms. This CASE IH Quadtrac 600 really is the most powerful tractor I've seen, controlled by GPS and computers and self-steer. Here Sid is drilling wheat with a 
Väderstad RAPID A800S drill and applying some liquid fertiliser at the same time...

It makes the Fordson Major Diesel I photographed yesterday (extra) look old. I wonder if this Quadtrac will be running and displaying at rallies fifty years from now...
