The Last One
Because Cape Wrath had been closed all week due to the Military closing their ranges this was the only day that we had the opportunity to get to the lighthouse.
We were able to get on the last ferry (which we were concerned about due to the 'queue jumpers').
The trip takes about 10 minutes and then it is an hour's minibus trip (it is 11 and the bus never gets above 15 miles per hour due to the rather rough track), about an hour there and then the trip back.
For a photography trip the hour isn't really enough - you either have to go up the hill and look down on the light and across to the 900' cliffs (the highest on the mainland) or you go down to the top of the 300' cliffs and look up to the light …… if you look closely you can see 2 of our group just above the wall..... with the squall coming in behind them.
We didn't get the chance to use the facilities of The Ozone Café which will open 24 hours for any walkers that turn up.
On the way back we stopped to have a look towards the high cliffs and the beach. If you look very closely you can see a person walking on the beach which helps give some scale to the height of the breaking wave.
We also stopped so I could get shots of the deer from the door of the bus.
Back at the ferry I was able to grab a shot of the disappearing rainbow before the torrents of rain arrived (for 5 minutes).
There was some lovely light of the hill opposite the place we stopped to fish and chips on the way back to the cottage.
