The Lozarithm Lens

Calne (Saturday 15th September 2018)

I have photographed Calne's Tounson almshouses before, the last time being 13 August, but I don't think I have ever blipped them. This weekend I was able to see them from the other side in the Open Heritage scheme.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Judy Henske and Jerry Yester - Three Ravens (1969)
There is a well known folk ballad called The Three Ravens but I don't think this is it and it is credited to the duo. This was a big John Peel favourite back in the day along with other tracks from the album Farewell Aldebaran for Frank Zappa's Straight label. It wasn't a commercial success and wasn't officially released on CD until 2016. Judy Henske, once known as the Queen Of The Beatniks, was best known before this album for her version of High Flying Bird, which Jefferson Airplane also recorded, and inspired the character Annie Hall in Woody Allen's film. Jerry Yester was in the Modern Folk Quartet and played piano on the Lovin' Spoonful's first album, later replacing Zal Yanovsky in the band. He produced albums for Tim Buckley, whose lyricist plays drums on one track of Farewell Aldebaran. I remember the album well but have never owned it - perhaps now it is digitally available I will.
