looking back
A window into history of this place I call home. Samson and Goliath, two large gantry cranes dominate the skyline.
Goliath was completed in 1969 - the year our "troubles" started and Samson, was erected in 1974. Goliath stands 96 metres (315 ft) tall, while Samson (in shot) is taller at 106 metres (348 ft). Goliath, the smaller of the two sits slightly further inland closer to Belfast City. At the time Harland & Wolff was one of the largest shipbuilders in the world. No longer.
They point to another time, reminding me of a past long gone. It is good to recall the past, as much of it was good.
