Antisyzygy
I have just finished reading Alexander McCall Smith's book, The Revolving Door of Life, and I came across a word I have never seen before, antisyzygy. I had to google it and apparently the definition seems to apply particularly to the Scottish psyche, with comments such as "the joining together of opposites" and "the presence of duelling polarities within one entity". Whew! I bought the next book in the series so I can find out what happens to Bertie's appalling mother Irene and I imagine there will be some other unusual words.
