Dik-Dik
In an odd way, this little fellow is responsible for my coming to Africa. Well not this actual individual, but a dik-dik that I saw when I was very little in a book called "Wild Animals of the World." It was a big book full of really fine drawings of all kinds of wild animals and I loved it. (There are some of my own personal additions to the pages in black crayon still in the book, but I digress.) That book was one of the main sources of my desire to go to Africa and see some of the animals in their wild setting. And the dik-dik was one for several reasons. He was very cute. He was very small. And he had the coolest name. So I was hoping to see one. And I wasn't disappointed. And he is just as cute as I expected.
