If you can't beat them...

Solace Day 8. Heron

One of the surprises of this trip was the lack wildlife.  We have seen very few Kingfishers or Herons.   There haven't even been the flocks of Canada Geese we usually see.  The only birds in normal numbers are  the Mallards.  This immature Grey Heron was the exception.  Immature recognisable by the lack of the adult plumes.  It also hadn't learned to be wary of humans so posed nicely.

We continued down the Llangollen Canal passing a picnic table beside Blake Mere.  This brought back bittersweet memories of our trip 10 years ago.  Since then we have lost CC's Mum and "the Mate's wife".  We were surprised the table had survived all this time, it is a beautiful spot and the table must be much appreciated by boaters.
