Apocalyptic sky

Don't know what was going on with the atmosphere today but one half of the sky above our village looked very angry and the other half had bizarre orange clouds with a strangely coloured piece of a rainbow (like something from 'The Omen') spearing through. Later the power went out for 2 hours ( where are the candles when you need them?)

All in all it felt very apocalyptic. Anyone know which date in 2012 it's all supposed to end?!
