Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2018 Wednesday — Happy Birthday Ashly

We are having a difficult go at accepting that it was 30-years ago today that this gal gave us a new title -- grandparents. Ashly Nicole (Ashly without an "e") has been pure delight and pleasure for us.

This evening we had the privilege of having dinner with her and her hubby Robert. She had expressed that she really wanted a low-key birthday. She's not excited about turning 30.

She is in her last university quarter of finishing her special education teaching credential and then her career will be launched in the world of education, and I suspect soon afterward they will begin their family.

But this evening they were all ours. We did not have to share them with anyone else. We told her we were surprised by that. Robert said he did not throw her a party because she was so adamant about not focusing on the big 30 and she said we were the first to ask if she was available for dinner, so we won the lotto and they were at dinner with us.

She said that she'll go to dinner tomorrow evening with her mother, and she'll go to dinner Friday evening with her dad and brother. (If that sounds weird and dysfunctional, it is. Our family photo is next to the word "dysfunction" in the dictionary.) So Ashly's week is certainly going to include some celebration and food.

It was a wonderful evening,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
