Hallater

Difficult to explain. I had to access the left bank (as viewed) of this river high up on the mountain side. The right bank has an easy to walk path to reach the right altitude but the water was so high it was impossible to cross safely. I had to set off from the bottom on the left bank (after crossing a bridge) but the hill rises in ledges and cliffs directly from the river on this side; like a half gorge. Impossible to traverse the gorge face I had to climb a considerable height, double the ascent I actually required before descending to the point I needed to reach. I had to reverse the route on the way out. It was horrible deep tussocks and wet rock everywhere; Felt like 4 hours walking to achieve 5 minutes of measurements.
