Buses on Putney Bridge
Spent the morning on yet more book revisions after feedback but had arranged to spend the afternoon in a commercial photography studio in Fulham, trying to learn a few processing techniques from Jon, a professional touch-up specialist. It's Jon's job to to take a good picture and make it just as his client expects. He does this by laying down layer upon layer of adjustments. I've had a go at layers but I'm far from assured in what to do. He convinced me I should be working with a TIF file so that's how it's going to be.
He also stressed the need for better filing and back-up. Mine is a bit haphazard so Lightroom might be the answer for filing. That said, I'm not working professionally and don't have a demanding art director for a client. The problem after leaving was that I still hadn't done my blip so I risked a parking ticket to nip up on to Putney Bridge for a night shot. This evening I tried doing one or two of the things he taught me but it didn't work (too knackered after the weekend) so I stuck with what I know already - not much.
I think I need now to work on my layering and masking and might play a bit with the clone stamp tool. Of course it would help if I got it right in the first place. I'll never push the processing too far. I think it's very often a bit tacky when the tweaking is too obvious.
