Admiring a real machine
Mum bought this Singer sewing machine many, many years ago. It was state of the art with a zigzag foot and the ability to do a few different stitches. It has served her well, but recently it stopped working.
At the same time, her small, lightweight machine, bought when she could no longer lift the first one, also packed in.
We took them both to the repair man in Wideopen today. Here you see him enthusing over the old machine, which was undoubtedly built to last. There is no onboard computer or touch screen.
Both machines are now working.
We had a cuppa in a local garden centre while we waited. The tea and scones were good, but the place needs a coat of paint and a bit of livening up.
I've now wasted ages trying to find my presentation for the Hexham Photo Society next Tuesday, before realising it is on my old computer. Duh!
In other news, my diary came home today. I am delighted to see it.
An early night calls before another festival recce tomorrow.
PS I started the day with a shop in Aldi. It has been closed for refurbishment and was short of food on reopening. Five days later they were overwhelmed with excess stock and we customers had to battle our way around the groaning pallets. Good humour prevailed.
It reminded me that George recited the words ofThe Ballad of Lidl and Aldi at the weekend concert. Very funny it was too.
