Dry Creek Ranch - aptly named
We made our way back home to Simi Valley from Arnold, took us just a bit over 6 hours with a gasoline stop and a dog walk stop. Along the way, we drove past Dry Creek Ranch. This is out in the middle of nowhere, or where one sees miles and miles of miles and miles. At this time of year, with no rainfall for months, all the grasses have turned a golden brown from the lush green of the spring. Everything waiting patiently for moisture to release new growth and to regenerate for the next life cycle.
Thinking of California as a rather populous state, then driving in the central part of the state, one can appreciate how all the population is tilted towards the coast. Quite a disparity in terms of population and in terms of needs and viewpoint. Not too hard to understand some of the calls for splitting California up into multiple states - The State of Jefferson being the one getting the most attention.
