In memory of SarumStroller
I was so sad yesterday to read that a long-time blipper, SarumStroller (Tim) had passed away last Saturday. In so many ways, it felt like losing a dear friend, even though Tim and I never met. He was a talented photographer, ever generous with his knowledge, always glad to answer a question. And although he had struggles in life, he kept making beautiful images.
When the first of three monarchs to emerge today was a male, I knew he had to be in memory of Tim. As one does, I talked to #191 for a while. And while we talked about the person in whose honor he is flying, he tilted his head a few times, as if listening intently. And as SarumStroller used to set out on long walks across the countryside, now this butterfly is commencing on his own long journey. And with him, he carries the memory of such a special person who will be missed so very much by so many people.
Fly fast and true.

And this old Irish blessing seems most apt...
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
