The Awda Key

Displayed outside St Mary's Cathedral in Edinburgh.

It commemorates that when Pakistani refugees left their homes in 1948 and 1967 they took their keys with them in the belief that they would return.

The years have passed and the keys have been passed down the generations as a memory of their lost homes.
