Loch Ness
We are up here for the races tomorrow: the Loch Ness marathon for me and the River Ness 10k for the Minx. (Forget the distances; she is being far braver than me.) This morning we had a hearty breakfast in Drumnadrochit before driving south, crossing the Caledonian Canal at Fort Augustus, and then picking up the marathon route in order to follow it all the way up to Inverness. Boy, twenty-six miles is a long way.
But then I've noticed this before; runs that I do can seem longer in the car than they do on foot. Anyway, by the time we reached 'The Festival of Running' so that I could register for tomorrow's race, I wasn't feeling any more anxious than I was beforehand. In fact, I haven't been feeling anxious at all. God, I hope this isn't the hubris again!
That job done, we popped into Inverness to buy ponchos for before the races and to grab some lunch. I also took this photo of a seagull (see extras), which is only noteworthy for the fact that it is so much better than my usual standard of wildlife photography!
This evening has all been about carb-loading and relaxing in front of the cottage's wood stove. Still not feeling too nervous: let's see how well I sleep and how I am in the morning, though.
