Ringer

Second day in London and an early start to it. Not a particularly appealing one either, what with having to explain last week's kerfuffle to a slightly miffed HR department. I must say that I volunteered myself for this one (not in the knowledge that my gesture would be accepted, mind) as I reckoned I was pretty well placed to explain the why's and how-for's and speedily get everyone on to the more positive side of how we reacted to it and what we are doing to rectify it all. It also helped that the investigation I carried out found the failure point well out of my control or ken, thus allowing me to speak freely about it all without my nose stretching out lengthways.

Then off to have a coffee and a chat with the regulator, on a completely unrelated matter I should add. Wasn't sure how this would go, but it was an interesting coffee, and the chat wasn't too bad either. Worth keeping that avenue open I'd say, given we got on to future changes in regulations and how best we could make that might work within technology build cycles. Useful, indeed.

Quick nip back to the hotel to pick up my luggage, a jaunt round the corner to the highly rated Giddy Up coffee cart, then Heathrow bound.
