November rainbow
Today the weather was cloudy with a few drops of rain. While the weather was well above freezing the atmosphere was dull. However, when I arrived home from shopping in the afternoon the sun suddenly broke through the clouds and gave us the unusual spectacle of a November rainbow. The steepness of the rainbow's curve demonstrates the nearness of the sun to the horizon as sunset approached. The position of the rainbow was quite different from that of a summertime rainbow. In summer the rainbows are far to the right and we can see both ends from our home. I was starting to regret not having a camera handy as there was only a window of opportunity of a few minutes to get the shot. Then I remembered I had been walking around all afternoon with my small camera around my neck.
