View From Sun Mountain

Today, my hikin' buddy and I hoofed to the top of Sun Mountain. Sun Mt is a foothill of the Sangre de Christo mountains to the East of Santa Fe. The climb was approximately 900' elevation gain, up to ~8000' at the top.

The view was fantastic. This picture was taken at noon looking South. The mountains on the horizon are the Sandia and the Cerillos Hills. The city of Santa Fe is in the foreground. I-25 crosses from left to right across the middle of the photo.

Noon is about the worst time to shoot--this image doesn't do it justice....but, that was my time on the mountain. Maybe I'll go up there some time during the evening to get a good sunset shot during photographer's time.
