Beautiful morning...

sunny with blue skies and the pines full of Crossbills feeding on the seed, as I set off on the walk. As I arrived at the monument, there was a hail shower!! However, sheltered under the stones, 15m tall, and it went off to reveal some great views of the Cromarty Firth and across to Moray.
Fyrish was erected under Sir Hector Munro's orders to provide occupation for his tenants after Culloden. He was laird of Novar and, having served as a General in India had the monument based on the Gates of a port in Madras.
Of his four children, one was mauled by a tiger and another eaten by a shark.
