Church on Sunday (Day 1236)
Last night, during a game of "Mouthtrap" (google it, it is hilarious) a plan was hatched that my beautiful wife and I would take Liz and Norm a tour about on the bikes.
So, after a wander with the woofers at Wasdale, we headed out, making for Dounby, then on to visit Twatt church. From there we trundled along to Birsay, Swannay, Evie and over the hill back to Dounby, along the Sandwick road to Stromness and on to Orphir. Norm and I had a bit of fun on the bends between Orphir and town, before a stop to grab a sandwich from Tesco. From there it was down through Tankerness to Toab and across to St Mary's for a trundle down the barriers to St. Margaret's Hope. We stopped in for a refreshment at the Murray Arms, then back up to Kirkwall for some more motion lotion for Norm and Liz. Unfortunately the weather took a turn for the worse and it rained very heavily. We curtailed our ride and made for home, missing the worst of the rain.
All in all, around a hundred miles of riding on great roads with some lovely views. The best one was 3 great friends larking around on the bench outside Twatt Parish Church. (The church is now disused, and for sale)
